Great sports writing from top writers around the Nation, many new articles - in variety - pop up to read throughout the day. No adds to endlessly click through- just pure sports writing at its best. Did I say no pop up adds? It’s great.

In the social media/hot take/clickbait era, the Athletic is a breath of fresh air. Enjoy reading quality sports writing on this app.

I’ve been very impressed with The Athletic so far, and if it’s available with coverage of the area that you live or it covers your favorite teams and sports, it’s a slam dunk. Understandably it’s difficult to decide to pay for information that would seem to be available elsewhere for free, but you won’t know until you try it that the articles are solid information with no fluff, and you can set your preferences to fit your interests. Trust me, you can’t go wrong. 5 stars.

Sundays NFL playoff games covered by local papers and bleacher report. Nothing on athletic.

Look, this app and this publication aren’t for someone who wants to get basic stats, game recaps, or hot takes, all of which are abundantly available from free, ad-laden sites. But if you want the nuts and bolts, x’s and o’s of plays and team construction, in-depth articles that dig far beneath the surface, and some of the best writing out there, a subscription to the Athletic and an app download are well worth the (small) monthly fee and the storage space on your device. What a refreshing change to see a publication accumulating talent and building their journalistic capacity as other companies fire quality, talented writers and move away from robust content in favor of clickbait and shallow, video-based fluff. Shout out to Bodner, Kapadia, and company for keeping quality Philly sports journalism alive for the city of brotherly love, and to national guys like Rosenthal for bringing their talents to a publication that values quality over clicks. Trust the Process, Go Phillies, Go Flyers, Go Eagles, and Go the Athletic.
