  • A Few Flaws

Fire Emblem Heroes is a great game, I’ve played since launch and am still playing and am enjoying the game, but there are flaws. 1. Rates. Okay normal 5 star pools being 3% is okay (don’t get me wrong it could be better) but my real issue here is legendary banners. The 8% is cancelled out because there are so little 5 stars to pull. So the rate being maybe 10 or 15% would work in my opinion. 2. Alternative characters Okay Seasonal characters are fine but when we get to the point of having 5 Lyns, yeah FIVE LYNS, there is obviously an issue. For example, we have gotten these characters from fates this year. NY, Camilla, Azura, Takumi, and Corrin. Flying Hinoka, Shigure, Kana and Kana. Summer Camilla and Takumi. Overall we have gotten 2 brand new fates characters this YEAR. (I am not counting Shigure because he had his Preforming Arts alt) I think you can see the problem. 3 The story The difficulty to beat the story is getting more and more difficult as more characters become more and more useless. For example, Lukas, my first 5 star unit was amazing in the story back last year but now? He is the first to die if I even try to do lunatic with him (I don’t use him anymore, I have better units) but power creep is real and if IS doesn’t realize that, their game is going to burn out. Overall, it’s a good game and recommend it, just note these flaws will be there.

It’s cool, similar to the gameboy version in some ways, but I just have no idea what’s going on. I’m just fighting and leveling up

The female summer Corrin never appears. I’ve easily tried a summons over 30 times and still haven’t gotten her. I’m still trying but it’s not happening.
  • IV’s the hidden mechanic that ruin the game

Fire Emblem has always been known for it’s random stat upgrades, only this time the stat upgrades aren’t random — so all the whiny defenders of this mechanic can stop claiming that it is faithful to the fire emblem games. Instead when you summon with a normal 3% chance to pull a 5* focus, which is about a 1% chance for whatever hero you want on a banner with 3 focuses or about a .8% chance on a banner with 4 focuses. That is a .8% chance to pull the hero. But then there are IV’s, randomly selected path that your hero can be set on. Unlike in normal FE games, where anyone familiar with the mechanic knows they can just restart a mission and whatnot to nullify bad stat acquirement. If you roll a character with -Atk, their atk is set to be at a specific lowered state. There is no neutralizing this. The scummy part of this is that the developers never mentioned IV’s and simply hoped that when people found out about them that they’d choose to stick with the game. Acquiring a highest tier character in any gacha game normally has around a .8% appearance rate, sometimes a little higher sometimes a little lower. Except that .8% draw rate is a lie. You have a .8% draw rate of that character with any IV’s, bad an good. So, you want +Atk and -Res, well now that .8% draw rate is now a dwindling .00002% chance that you will get that character with those IV’s. And if you haven’t played the game (consider yourself lucky for not wasting your time) then trust me that you only ACTUALLY get a character when you get them with good IV’s. They try to band-aid this scummy mechanic by releasing seals that bump up a stat, normally by the amount it loses through bad IV’s, but that instantly get nullified because if you’d had that band-aid over your good IV’s then your character would be even better. They won’t get rid of IV’s because it makes them money, but the only way this game is worth playing at this point is if they either patch them out or allow them to be re-rolled. Also as a side note, the developers add new characters almost every month, sometimes twice a month and it’s gotten absolutely ridiculous. I don’t know who thought that was a good idea but it makes it so that you can’t ever be sure you want to roll on a specific banner because what if the next one’s better. This, like IV’s, is probably a money grabbing technique as only people who throw exorbitant amounts of money will be able to not only get characters with the IV’s they like, but also be able to actually have a chance at getting more than one character every 2 banners which have 3-4 character on them. And let’s not forget, they only have a .00002% chance that they got the character they wanted with the IV’s they wanted. TL;DR: if you got this game, I’m sorry. If you haven’t, IV’s breaks the rolling in this game to an unbearable level, just go play Dragon Ball Legends or, if you have a jpn itunes, Granblue Fantasy. They’re both MUCH better games, especially gbf which understands that they shouldn’t release 7-8 new characters every month. DBL just came out so it gets a pass on how many characters come out every month, but I hope they don’t fall into the same trap as FEH.

I like this game with all the good art and characters and story to it. And the arenas fun to do and build your favorite characters and fight others characters. Then theirs Horse emblem in arena. Even though there are pits that delay the horse characters, Lynn and Reinheirt are still really annoying. And plus the percentage rates are pure CRAP.

I love seeing all my favorite Fire Emblem characters from past fames joined together, and they keep updating the content and introducing new characters. The versions of the characters from the summer and wedding events and holiday events are kind of wonky though.
  • Why?

Your best characters stand no chance against the computers in the difficult settings. Most missions where I'm at are impossible to beat. The game is fun in the beginning, but character progression is laughable compared to what you face later in the game. It’s also typical to use 200 orbs, and go without getting a focus character later in the game. The infernal missions should be called impossible.
