  • Much improved

This app suddenly got better a few days ago. I like to keep track of my running mileage and pace. It helps motivate me since I've aged (now 74) and all 12 of my running buddies have given it up so I'm mostly running alone. Also I moved across town recently and the app gives me a map and keeps track of my distance so I can explore and go in a different direction every day. The best recent change is that it stops when I stop. I'm so compulsive that I frequently would pause the app while waiting for a red light or to stretch a tight tendon but I'm also forgetful when the endorphins are working and I would forget to restart the tracking. This feature seems very reliable. Now even if I get home at the end of a run and forget to turn it off it patiently waits without racking up more time. I don't know how many runs it will store. My previous app was not only twitchy and unreliable but it would suddenly lose my old runs. I would like an option to store old data in the cloud.
  • So so performance and no customer service

Paid for training plan, wouldn’t give me the plan I wanted. No one ever responded to my attempts to get help/support. Half the time, it works great. The other half it just shuts down and closes the app.
  • Needs Apple Watch support

I’ve been using this app for a couple years now and I have been generally satisfied. It was a bit glitchy with my series 1 watch. I upgraded to a series 3 thinking that I could leave my phone behind. I was disappointed to find out this was not the case. It’s enough to prompt me to keep my eye out for an alternative.

Quit making changes all the time. About the time you get a system down it changes and not for the better.
  • Reliable

I’ve compared map my run on my phone to Nike run on my Nike sport I watch. Map My run is so much more reliable and easier to use. Unfortunately I have to carry my phone to use it. I’ve used map my run for years and haven’t had complaints with it.
  • It is broken!!

IT’S BROKEN!!!!! Won’t sync, won’t track without a restart of watch and iPhone. It was working great since I got it. Tracking (when it does) is erratic and inconsistent. Fix it please.
  • Leave it alone

The app has great functions and picks up a signal well in urban environments. But the designers need to leave it alone. Make the pause button red again and the running button green. Not the reverse. Green means go. And whatever you do, Leave It! All of a sudden I’m stopping because it looks like my timer stopped. But Nope: just designers switching colors counterintuitively. Then it happens a month later when they get antsy and switch back. Mild visual updates are inappropriate here. We’re concentrating on working out, not the interface. It’s not fresh. It’s annoying. I’d love, LOVE this app if it wasn’t so mercurial.

I love this app. I use it to keep track of my running. Tracking my distances helped me stay motivated. I went from running less than a block to 16 miles, this was a three year progress.

  • No Apple Watch built-in GPS support or data import

Still no support for Apple Watch 2+ built-in GPS, even though the 2 has had this feature for over a year now. No ability to import the workouts I track with my watch into my personal profile, either, which means I’m forced to take my phone and use mapmyrun if I want to participate in a challenge etc. This lack of support has driven me to abandon the app after 6 years of using it and thousands of miles on my profile. I find carrying my phone (7 plus) is a burden I shouldn’t need to deal with when my watch has GPS built-in, and that the developers should add this feature before more people leave.
