Combining a large collection of unique guitars, all-new realtime effects and amps processing, and a playing surface more expressive than ever, Steel Guitar is easily the most realistic sounding guitar on iOS. For unprecedented control over your tone, expand to 10 unique guitars, 8 iconic virtual-tube amps, and 16 classic effects! Build up your signal chain any way you want, thanks to a simple drag-and-drop interface that accommodates all your amps & FX connections, in any order. Steel Guitar’s axes range from 6-string electrics to acoustic, 12-string, and to even 8- and 10-string pedals steels. Amps include all the important models of the last 60 years — each one complete with channel switching, adjustable gain, and EQ. The effects include painstakingly designed virtual-analog overdrives, fuzzes, wah, tape delay, reverbs, and more! With the PRO Pack or The Whole Enchilada, gain access to Steel Guitar’s powerful tapedeck complete with recording, looping audio copy/paste and a plethora of other sharing options; or harness Steel Guitar’s powerful, user-friendly MIDI Learn to control your effects, amps and guitar parameters! Use MIDI or the accelerometer to control string-bending pedals for authentic pedal steel sounds — and you can easily configure pedal-to-string assignments via the built-in copedent matrix. Steel Guitar 2.0 is fully connected, too. With Inter-App Audio and Audiobus available out-of-the box, connect Steel Guitar to your favorite iOS DAW and jam away! Kind of hard to play steel guitar without a movable slide bar. It works sometimes but only after I stop and restart the app
  • Would love to try it

Every time I try to download it, it appears to download and then puts up a dialog box saying the app could not be downloaded.
  • Beautiful but might need a bug fix again.

I noticed lately off and on when I’m working on one of my songs or just playing the steel gets glitchy; blinks and makes a jittery kind of noise. I haven’t figured out if it’s my fingers or the app itself. It seems like it’s the app. It’s annoying when I’m trying to make my music and record it too.
  • Don't abandon this one!

I'm primarily a guitarist, though not well-practiced with slide. Overall this is an impressive app. Some critiques: -No difference in timbre when picking low or high on strings. -No variability in picking force, or in pick types. -No apparent way to control pedals via midi (a midi pedalboard like Tech21's Midimoose would probably work well, though some form of expression pedals would be even better I also see it's not been updated for a couple years, so I hope it hasn't been abandoned.

Yonac makes incredible apps and their ToneStack amp emulator is the most underrated music production app around- it smokes the glossy, licensed amp packages quite easily. This crazy Steel Guitar app somehow takes the sonic mojo that makes their amp sounds so convincing to the next level with a pedal steel sound extremely close to the real thing. For adding authentic twang to country and acoustic based productions this app is a no brainer but what's really cool are the possibilities using Steel Guitar as a tool for creating effected sounds for music of any genre. It is so easy to use, you can tune the steels any way you want and the amp & effect models in the app are very good. Update 5/2016: had to amend my review with a word on the V.2 Whole Enchilada in-app purchase. I got it on sale and man, it adds another layer to an already brilliant app. The Telecaster and Gibson P-90 sounds are so good you may be able to fool someone in a blindfold test, seriously. The app is made in my opinion for subtle slide touches, not all out fast Elmore James or Ry Cooder stuff. But for swells, cool chord transitions and effects the app is limitless. You can Audiobus it with any effect, make a custom tuning and boom, you have a sound that no synth can cop. I am amazed at Yonac again, and they are in a class by themselves anyway. This, TubeStack, Magellan, Galileo...those are essential apps if you make music with an iOS device, end of story.

After buying and spending 4 amazing hours with Tone Stack, I looked at other apps on the website and watched the video for Steel Guitar. Bought it, and the whole enchilada pack. This app is so awesome, the sounds, the layout, the features. A couple of things on my wishlist: MIDI out, so I can record and edit my many mistakes in a piano roll editor. And the awesome Bristol amp model and the totally brilliant Pepper & Vinegar overdrive from Tone Stack! Thank you :)
  • Fantastic App

I've never touched a real steel guitar in my life, but Steel Guitar let's me pretend to be Steve Howe during the soaring sections of 'And You and I' to my heart's content. The touch controls are fantastic, and the instruments, amps, and effects all sound great. As mentioned, the 'Whole Enchilada' bundle is an absolute no-brainer.
  • Excellent!
