My Lyric Book App Description

Every singer as an A4 folder of songs they bring to rehersal, but now they can have all of their lyrics with them all the time, on their iPhone. You can also create setlists of songs which can be edited and reordered. Setlists and individual songs shared with the rest of the band by email, iMessage, Airdrop, or print them out. Rather than searching online for other other people's versions of songs, this app displays your lyrics, which you've formatted as you want them on your computer. You can create them in Pages 09, Doc, pdf, rtf or txt format [Unfortunately Apple don't yet allow apps to use the new Pages 5 format - this should be resolved in a future iOS update] then simply transfer them to your phone using the iTunes file transfer system (on the Apps tab for your device). While primarily designed for singers, the new improved pdf handling makes PDF scores look amazing, so the whole band can get in on the act. Not only does My Lyric Book remember your lyrics and set lists, but songs can be tagged with a tempo for the built in metronome, or linked to tracks in your iTunes library so you can refer to a recorded version or play a backing track from within the app. You can even send midi patch changes, so selecting a song programs your keyboard for you! If the rest the band is using the app too, then you can all sync up, so that the band leader can select songs and have them automatically selected on everyones screens. (Note this DOES NOT distribute the lyrics, but selects each band member's version, so each band member can see their own parts as they've set up their devices). Of course your lyrics look even better on an iPad, but an iPhone or iPod has plenty of screen space to display lyrics and you can always have it in your pocket. You can use Airturn BT-105( or Pageflip Cicada pedals to scroll through your lyrics. You can select what each pedal does in the Settings app, though note that if you only have two pedals they're probably numbered 1 and 3 - that's just how the BT pedals work. NOTE: No lyrics are included with the App. It displays lyrics you've already prepared. HANDY HINTS: You can swipe to advance to the next song, or back to the previous one. You can email songs to yourself as attachments. If the auto-rotation gets in the way, remember you can turn it off in preferences. Normally you can't delete songs incase you wipe it by accident during a gig (ouch!). You need to enable this in preferences too. To rename a set-list just click on it while in edit mode. Check the "support" link at the top this page for more info. IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS FOR THOSE STRUGGLING TO ADD LYRICS: To add lyrics to the app first connect your device to iTunes Select your device in the left hand bar Select the Apps tab which shows the Apps installed on your device, along with your iOS home screen. Scroll down to the bottom where you'll find and area marked "File Sharing" Select the My Lyric Book App in the File sharing area Drag and drop your files into the area labeled Documents. They will then be copied to the device and appear in the Lyric Book App. For more help check: If you have any problems, then email me before leaving a negative review - I want the app to work great for you, and can usually sort out any problems. I can't reply directly to reviews, but most of the issues raised, could have been resolved by an email (

App Reviews

  • Only lyric app I like

    By GG Rocker
I’ve been using this app for years and it’s the only one that comes close to what I need! Simple and easy to use if you don’t need to edit on the spot. Only wish I could set up two main song data bases, one for my solo shows and one for my band shows...other than that I love it!
  • Worthless

Unless I’m really missing something, this is impossible to use. How do you get anything in it without going to a computer. This isn’t 2001.
  • Great lyric app for musicians!

I’ve been using “My Lyric Book” several years now. Simple to import song lyrics (ie: Word files) from your laptop. Great for making/sorting set lists on the fly. Responsive email support from the author, thanks Ian.
  • Poor editing options

I’m not able to delete or create list. This is not a good app for lyrics.
  • Love it

Excellent if you have a crap load of lyric chord charts on your computer that you need to print out. Just input them with a click and you have them. Now, dragging $2.99 out of your pre Madonna band mates is the hard part, but if they use the charts you print out it’s worth it to give them the Monet so u don’t have to copy any longer. Works excellent on a pad with a pad holder.
  • It weighs next to nothing!

Three large binders into my tablet and backed up on my phone! Does simply what I want it to do. Store my lead sheets, make set lists, and NOTHING else! (I tried 3 other apps, but they did too much, set list maker for example.) Hook my tablet/phone to my MacBook, drop the files in through iTunes, and on my way. Oh, got pinch to zoom back! Weird way to make it work, but it works! (Scrolling PDF setting turned on) Friends wishing they could get a version for android.
  • DO NOT BUY!!!!

    By Progear918
VERY unusable! Files won't transfer from other apps. Only option it gives you takes you to an apple info page. No cut and paste options from other apps. Don't waste ur money.
  • 5/5 for sure!

    By Carlitos' iTunes
This app is great! It stores lyrics, set lists and allows you to zoom on word and pdf docs. Great purchase. Those low ratings are very unfair. Based on the reviews I can tell people didn’t take the time to figure it out.
  • No instructions on how to set up what so ever

    By lwjonesii
No set or way to understand how to load anything into the app. Possibly the worst app purchase in the history of apps.
  • Don't Bother

    By Jimmy is not happy.
The idea is there but the app doesn't work. Let's you load individual PDFs of song lyrics but that's it. Will not create setlists, and very buggy. Save your money.
