(full review on Lincoln Goines (electric and acoustic bassist) writes: “This app is an engaging and informative way to check out the original funk. A great tool for musicians, dancers, and all lovers of rhythm”. Percussive Arts Society: “The interactive application is very thorough [...]. Navigation is simple and the layout is logical and easy to grasp.” PercussionTutor will allow you to approach South American, Caribbean and West African music in a different way. This app offers you more than a simple play-along. It includes standard notation, videos and specific claves. We also took the outmost care to capture the natural feeling of all those drumming traditions. For the batá rhythms we even developed a random playback engine that will simulate an actual batá performance. This app puts you in a live playing situation - just like you learned your mother language. You will sound more natural and more alive and you will awaken to new rhythmic possibilities. It's also a great tool for other musicians, dancers and performers who want to immerse themselves into centuries-old traditional languages. I’ve bought a lot of apps trying to get a handle on Afro/Cuban Latin and folkloric drumming this App is tops for that would like to see some more rhythms like yambu/Bembe bata section is awesome keep up the good work fellas.

Percussion Tutor Review For the Latin or Afrocuban drummer, this app is worth 10x the price at least. Especially for bata rhythms and other folk rhythms that aren’t easy to find a lot of recordings of. Just wish you could adjust the volume levels of each instrument instead of just muting them. This would help seeing how two instruments fit together while distinguishing one from the other. Also, hope Bembe gets added soon.

I have been into Afro-Cuban and Haitian drumming for 19 years now, and this app is the best one I've been able to find. Great practice tool.
  • Excellent App

Great app that is now part of my suite of practise tools. Just get it you wont regret. Wished it had a timer or at least show the clock so that the practice time per rhythm can be tracked before upping the tempo etc,
  • Great tool!

  • A Treasure

    By Q-Tripp
This is the app any musician who has engaged in the study of Cuban, Peruvian, rhythms and beyond could only dream of. A million thanks to the all-star team who put this together. I've travelled to many places and this app delivers what I was always hoping to understand: the structure behind many complex rhythms.

I love this app! I use it all the time. I am a piano player and I always try various Latin tunes with different rhythms. The charts and videos are such a great bonus!
