iSeeNotes Pro App Description

Scan musical notes, automatically recognize the notes and hear the music play! Using "musical OCR" - OMR, this app can sight read sheet music. This is the Pro version which supports load and save of captures and exporting to MIDI. Note that loading from the camera roll or image library is not supported, only loading previously saved captures. NOTE: Music recognition is a difficult problem. This app does not support the complete set of notation, for instance whole notes and the alto clef are not recognized. Depending on how the print looks and the quality of the photo the app may have trouble recognizing the notes and symbols correctly - do not expect perfect results! iSeeNotes developer interviewed on Swedish national radio, SR P1 Kulturnytt: http://sverigesradio.se/sida/artikel.aspx?programid=478&artikel=5575938 Have you ever wondered about the melody of a new song in a song book? Are you learning an instrument? Learning a new song for the choir? iSeeNotes can help you! Using iSeeNotes, you can take a picture of a piece of sheet music using your device, and it will be converted into sound using optical music recognition. Place the printed score in a well lit location, hold the camera steady and press the button for iSeeNotes to take a photo. Wait a few seconds for processing and hear the music play. Please visit www.iseenotes.com or send a mail to info@iseenotes.com if you have any questions. Features: - Save and load - Export to MIDI - Reads multiple staffs - Recognizes bass and treble clef - Recognizes key signature - Recognizes accidentals - sharps, flats and naturals - Handles multiple voices - Recognizes beams - Recognizes dotted notes - Recognizes rests - Recognizes note flags

Complete and colossal piece of $h!t. Doesn’t work 75% of the time and when it does work it skips notes and ignores timing. And then completely stops playing sound for no reason. Then you have to delete app and reinstall it just for it to play music and then you’ve deleted all the sheet music you’ve already scanned don’t waste your time or money completely frustrating and piece of garbage

Yes, it reads most of the notes, but it skips too many. Worst of all for me and my daughter, it totally ignores key signatures.

I regret not testing the free version more before paying but I wanted to support the developer. This app does a great job at extremely basic tasks, but needs more development in many ways. I took a good photo of music printed in a book and these are some issues I immediately came across: 1. Notes missed. 2. Dotted values missed. 3. Duple/triplet subdivisions missed. On a side-note, I would like to see additional clefs supported in the future and an option of playing back from various places. Test the free version before buying.

This app needs lot of work before it will be usable. Under really bright lightening you have to be so close to the music that you can only read maybe 10 bars of music and it will only do one line at a time.
  • Very cool idea

This is pretty awesome. The only reason I think 4 instead of 5 stars is it doesn't play vocal/piano sheet music (it plays one line at a time....which means you have to take a pic of the one you need to hear and can only hear a couple notes at a time). I feel like that could be fixed where you select the kind of sheet music your taking a pic of before. It works as is for what I needed though so I don't think it was a waste. Just a few improvements to make it more flexible would be awesome!
  • Just awful

Great idea but this app fails to work with my level 1 beginner material. I bought this to help me with more complex material - not going to work It can't figure out chords, doesn't play the bass and treble clef together consistently. I'm better off making a .mus file in notepad.

Could only get it recognize very small passages (like one bar!), wouldn't recognize ties, repeatedly missed notes - and all that only after several attempts to get it working at all. Can i have my $3.99 back?
  • Great idea, but needs some work

I have bees looking for something to help me learn more complicated scores, and got really excited about this one. The video on their site is misleading. If you take a picture of a full page, it repeatedly says to "GET CLOSER". I could only get it to play 2 measures at a time and even then it played the treble staff first and then the bass staff. This app appears to be less than a week old, so I will give it 3 stars for a good idea, and in the hope they will iron out the bugs.
