Babbel – Learn Languages App Description

Learn Spanish, French, Italian, German, and many more languages with Babbel. Developed by a team of language learning experts, Babbel has helped millions of people speak a new language with confidence. THE BABBEL METHOD Here’s what makes Babbel more effective than any other language learning app: 1. Confidence — Our goal is to get you speaking from your very first lesson. And our elegantly designed courses give you the confidence to get there. We teach you how to engage in practical, everyday conversations, making it easier for you to have authentic experiences in your new language. 2. Comprehension — Our lessons immerse you in relevant culture and real-life conversations. We want you to really take in the language, not just memorize useless phrases. And we provide helpful hints in English (or your native language) to make your new language more relatable. 3. Retention — We know you’re busy. That’s why our lessons are short but sweet: about 10-15 minutes, and designed to send your new language straight to long-term memory. We regularly refresh your memory with our dynamic review sessions, which target areas where you need improvement most. Finally, we make sure you really grasp what you’re learning by bringing it back later in a new context. App Reviews

  • Was Great Now Awful

    By Eirik_Thorsen
I used this app every day for 2 years to help build my German language skills. With the updates it no longer lets me enter special characters with Umlauts. This makes the app unusable and I’ve been writing support for months - they answer it’s a known issue but they haven’t fixed it (iPad Pro with Apple keyboard).
  • It should be free

Why do you need a subscription to get access to the other lessons? When I saw the TV ad I thought it was free! I love it and all but why do you need to pay to get the other lessons?
  • Best app to learn a language

    By Toxynce
Hands down the best language learning app I’ve found. This app teaches a really good selection of essential vocabulary, you can pick and choose which courses suit you, the voice recognition for practicing speaking is on point, and I’ve never found grammar explained so well in another app (or even textbook)!

  • No Asian languages?!

Good app, but not diverse enough collection of languages to learn!
  • French

    So far.. so good.
  • Not a fan

    By PinchCalico
Simplistic, terrible interface, poor audio and awful audio recognition. Besides the snail’s pace progress, this app does nothing to deserve a premium status and require a fee. Do not waste your money. There are far superior free apps with better usability, audio, recognition and potential for rapid progress. I wish I could get my money back.
  • Traveler

    By TXgardener124
Im impressed with the app. Just being able to hear and rehear words being pronounced earned a 5 star rating. I definitely know education-years of school AND teaching-so, as learning a new language goes- they’ve sure made it doable AND affordable. I went with 4 stars for 2 reasons; 1. I’d like to slow down the speech( pronunciation). 2. A course for travelers, eg. order food, find bathrooms, get directions or help would be advantageous.
  • Need money

The app is very good with helping you learn. However after the first lesson you must buy a subscription to continue learning
  • Good for different learning styles

Having never taken French I thought it might be useful to learn a bit of the language so I might be able to communicate in small towns where English may not be used. I find Babbel ‘s varied learning styles very helpful. I look forward to taking another course when I finish this one.
