  • Is not for everyone

I would have loved to try this app but before I could get started, the country I was visiting was not listed. So it’s a nope for me. Cater to ever country or don’t make it an option.

Update: Big miss on shorts. Planning a beach trip, the app found that the high will be in the 80s... and decided shorts won’t be needed despite being on the essentials list. I wish I could see and adjust the thresholds for certain items like sweaters and shorts, but for now I have to add them manually. Original:Just getting started with it, but it has the basics. Things that could be improved: -More icons: Missing some really basic things like a driving icon for car trips, and some more sports. Would help if you could upload your own. -Family sync: Would be nice to have a family list or account so that families can share packing some of the basics and sync up. -Web interface: Would be much easier to edit and create new activities from a laptop. I like the pre populated lists and will have to play around with the settings to figure out how best to do things like plan for ski trips and have it calculate the right number of pairs of ski socks and long underwear. So far it’s interesting and I will update as I get better with it.
  • Where’s the iPhone X update?!

It’s been over 8 months and no iPhone X support! I paid for all the extra features back when I had an iPhone 7 Plus! This is ridiculous!
  • Very incomplete free version

As far as I can tell, the free version only lets you select the items you want to pack; it doesn’t actually create a checklist for you.
  • Customized list disappeared

I spent a while setting up a customized list, now I don’t see it anywhere. The option to link a list to TripIt doesn’t do much. I can not share lists amongst my devices, for example transferring from my iPhone to my Ipad. Not worth paying for the app.
  • What’s the point

I think the big issue with this app is that it does not know me, so the list is generic and extensive. With the effort it takes to edit the list I can just as easily make one in Notes.
  • Good, but Needs Improvement

A good basic packing app with a very user friendly interface, but it’s limited in what it can do and while it attempts to tailor the list to your trip location and your gender, it doesn’t do that great of a job and there’s a bunch of things I noticed that could be improved just from the 10 minutes I spent playing around with it. The first thing I noticed was that the maximum length of a trip you can put in is limited to 30 days, which is plenty of time for most people packing for smaller trips but is annoying for people like me trying to pack for a 2 month long business trip. (I ended up putting in 30 days just to get to the next screen and play around with the app) The app also will repeat items like “work shirt” if you select two similar categories like Business Causal and Business Formal, but doesn’t specify ‘business casual work shirt’ or ‘business formal work shirt’ only just has work shirt listed under both. Which is annoying because some items don’t need to be repeated for both categories, or they do but need to be specified within the list and not just at the category header, which means I have to sit there and go through and delete the duplicates or delete and re-add them with the specified name. Another little thing is the app seems to be written by a male, and I say this because despite having the user input their gender there are a bunch of things that come up auto-listed in the chosen categories that are not at all things that would be important for a female to pack. For example, socks shouldn’t be auto-listed with the Business Formal or Business Casual categories if the user chooses Female as I don’t know a single female who wears socks to anything business formal or casual as most of the time we would be wearing heels, flats, or dress sandals. The app also only auto lists “work shoes” and “bra” with the default number listed as 1 when Female is chosen as well, which the likelihood that any female would wear the same pair of business shoes every weekday and the same bra every day for a month long trip is unlikely. I know I’m being picky here, but I also work in computers and know removing duplicates is a pretty simple fix with the addition of just a couple lines of code (or even just changing the output of the listed item to be more specific), and a couple of IF statements could help tremendously to improve how the app tailors all of the categories based on the gender chosen and not just the Toiletries and Essentials categories. It’s a good start to what could be a great app, and it would probably work well for a basic packing list, but in the time I spent going through and changing things on the list just to account for being a girl and having a longer trip I could’ve just made my own list by hand.
  • Can’t see any of my lists

I interpreted this with TripIt and have several trips. But PackPoint only shows me the one they want me to edit and not a list of trips so I can see my packing lists. Back to using Excel.

Hello, are they any new users out there that just downloaded the app and are having issues opening the app, or is it just me??? I tap on the app to open it and a few seconds later I’m back at my home screen... pretty annoying.
  • It’s Ok

It’s ok for getting ideas to think of packing for specific activities. I just think it’s a little layered and I don’t like using really. I use it for ideas only after buying..
